Odile, the white swan: the bowed head and long neck are embroidered thread by thread with the Lunéville hook, white on white, down to the bright orange beak ringed with black. All the rest, body, water, ripples, is sculpted in knife-worked paint, white furrows that catch the light. Born of Swan Lake along with Odette, her dark sister; the two canvases answer each other.
