Edwige, snowy owl: the face embroidered in needle painting, two gold eyes ringed with black, the beak a dark point. Her crown mixes real feathers with pleated satin ones dotted with sequins; the chest sparkles with silver beads. White on white across thirty centimetres, and that yellow gaze that does not blink.
