On a round canvas painted in a sky gradient, blue to sea green, a branch of bright pink frangipani unfolds in true relief: petals and leaves embroidered by needle then varnished, glossy as after rain, stems of copper wire. The flowers' cast shadow is part of the picture; it moves with the sun.
