A roe deer's head held high, embroidered hair by hair in needle painting: the rust of the coat, the white of the chest, the brown velvet of the antlers, down to the black sheen of the muzzle. Around it, a landscape painted in soft bands, grey-blue sky, tawny hill, dark undergrowth. Thread makes the animal; paint makes the evening hour.
