A square of crumpled, flocked black leather, black ramifications escaping from it like roots searching for the sky, set on a sunset painted in bands: night blue, pale sky, yellow, orange, ember red. The black material absorbs everything; the flat color radiates around it. The title says the rest: a California dreamed in negative.
